David Honeycutt
Lead Minister
David Honeycutt was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Growing up in a solid Christian home, he had excellent role models in his parents and grandparents who were faithful believers in Christ. He originally planned on a career in Chemical Engineering, but decided to attend Cincinnati Bible College for one year prior to pursuing his engineering studies in order to provide a firm foundation before navigating university life on a secular campus. It was a decision that changed his life.
While there, God placed a strong call on his heart to preach the gospel and, within a year, he was studying for full-time vocational ministry. He married Carolyn ,also a student at Cincinnati, in 1981. That same year, he accepted a call to fill the pulpit at the South Norwood Church of Christ, in the community where he grew up. He preached there, first part time, then after graduation, full-time for the next 10 years.
In 1991, David, Carolyn and their then 3-year old son Andrew moved to South Bend, Indiana where he began a ministry with the Southview Church of Christ. In 1994, a second son was born, Alex. In 1998, David was part of the team that orchestrated the merger of the Southview, River Park and Milburn Boulevard congregations to form the Deer Run Church of Christ where he has served ever since.
During his years in Michiana, he has served both Michiana Christian School and Michiana Christian Service Camp as well as various mission-related works that have taken him to Southeast Asia twice (1995 and 2000) and Ireland (2002). His primary passion remains “preaching the Word”, always grateful that the Lord granted him such a privilege.
